What does Patrick's on the Beach feel like?
A cozy, intimate, informal resort where everything you want is available but nobody pushes anything. The beach is spectacular, with amazing views across the reef to the surrounding islands. Over 60% of our guests are repeat visitors.
Is there air conditioning?
All cottages have air-con and fans. Daytime temperatures run 80-89°F (25-32°C), cooling to 75-80°F (22-25°C) at night. It can be cooler during the December and January rainy season.
Do you have a meal plan?
Yes, meal plans are available for groups or individuals. The restaurant has a huge menu with selections from 15 different countries.
Is there a TV and phone in the rooms?
There are no landlines, but cell phones are serviced by Smart and Globe. Patrick's can place calls for you or rent you a phone. TVs are being installed in all rooms.
Do your cottages have ocean views?
Yes. All cottages sit right on the beach, with fabulous views from a large porch overlooking the ocean, the reef, and the neighboring islands.
Do you have a swimming pool?
Patrick's has a natural ocean pool dug right in front of the beach cottages along the white sand beach. The tide changes the water twice daily, so you can swim and soak anytime.

What money should I bring?
Philippine pesos or US dollars in cash are recommended. There are ATM machines along the main tourism road, and money exchange is available for all major currencies.
How about credit cards?
Patrick's accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and other major cards. Cash advances are available for a small fee.
What are the tipping guidelines?
Tip at your discretion; 5-10% is recommended. Tips are highly appreciated, as locals seldom tip.

How safe is Siargao Island?
Siargao is probably the most peaceful part of the entire Philippines. People here are extremely friendly and helpful.
What about clothes?
The dress code is informal. Bathing suits are not recommended in town, but they are fine at Patrick's restaurant. Siargao people tend to be modest in public.
Are there snakes and insects?
You are unlikely to encounter snakes unless you hike into the jungles or rice fields. Mosquitoes are mostly blown away by the Pacific ocean breezes, and all rooms have mosquito nets and screened windows.
What about electrical hookups?
Power is 220V and adaptors are available. Most plugs are American style.
What's the island's political system?
Siargao is part of the Philippines, run by an elected governor based in Surigao City. The island has 9 municipalities, each with an elected mayor, and villages (barangays) overseen by an elected barangay captain.
What language do they speak?
Siargaonon, a Visayan dialect. English is known by most locals, though many are shy to speak it.
Driving around Siargao?
Take a jeepney or a habal-habal (extended motorbike) for short trips. The island is about 452 sq km, with a paved road from Del Carmen (the airport) through Dapa and General Luna to Patrick's. Dapa to General Luna is about 16 km, and the airport is about 30 km away. Your foreign driver's license is valid here.
