Philippine Airlines turboprop plane on the tarmac after landing on Siargao Island

Travel Guide

Getting here

A quick guide to finding your way to Siargao, by air, by sea, or the long way round.

Before You Book

Surigao is not Siargao

Two similar names, two very different places. Double-check which one is printed on your ticket.

Most guests either fly straight into Siargao (IAO) or fly to Surigao City and ride the ferry across to Dapa Port. Below are all seven routes, from the quickest hop to the slow scenic sail.

Travel Options

Seven ways to reach the island

Pick the route that fits your dates and budget. Every one of them ends on the same white sand.

By air

The fastest way in. Fly straight to Siargao, or route through Surigao City or Butuan and finish the trip by ferry.

Fly direct to Siargao (IAO)

Multiple airlines fly direct to Siargao (IAO), including Cebu Pacific and Cebgo (cebupacificair.com), Philippine Airlines (philippineairlines.com), and Sunlight Airlines (sunlightair.ph).

Fly to Surigao City, then ferry across

PAL and Cebu Pacific fly daily direct to Surigao City. Make sure your flight arrives at least 30 minutes before noon, as the last ferry to Siargao departs at noon.

Fly to Butuan, bus to Surigao, then ferry

Possible, but not recommended due to timing issues. The bus or van from Butuan to Surigao takes about 2-3 hours and costs around ₱150.

By sea

Ferries reach Dapa Port on Siargao from Surigao City, Cebu, and even directly from Manila.

Ferry from Surigao City to Siargao

Multiple ferries cross from Surigao City to Dapa Port every day. Tickets range from ₱210-₱350 one way, or charter a private boat for ₱8,000-₱12,000.
